The MDFRA holds several courses for new referees between January and April every year. Courses consist of an online training component and a practical session held in person with an MDFRA instructor.
All practical sessions are held at Belgenney Reserve, Camden.
Level 4 Referee courses
This course is tailored to anyone aged 13 years and above which qualifies you to referee junior and senior football matches.

Small Sided Games (SSG) courses
Not quite ready to step onto the big field but want to start your refereeing journey. The SSG course is recommended for ages 12 and above who are just starting their refereeing journey and qualifies you to referee SSG in the Macarthur District. Participants need to be 12 years of age before they can referee.
This course is a 3-4 hour theory and practical session.
